The thank-you

A personal thank-you

Nick, this starts
with thank you.

Nick

My mentor. My “rich dad.”

Chocolate Cake is my way of saying thank you—and putting the lessons you’ve shared with me into practice for others.

A lesson I want to pass on

Someone to build with.
Someone to share it with.

Nick has taught me to do right by people, understand what I’m committing to, and honor the people beside me. That is what I want Chocolate Cake to express.

The cake represents something simple: after the work, having someone to share the achievement with.

My hope is to create a place where more people can learn, ask honest questions, and build responsible partnerships. I want the generosity I’ve experienced in this relationship to show up in how we welcome people and how we treat them.

How a thank-you becomes something useful

Put the lessons
into practice.

Do right by people.

Explain clearly. Tell the truth when it is uncomfortable. Correct mistakes.

Honor the partnership.

Make expectations clear. Welcome difficult questions. Keep our commitments.

Share the good.

Recognize the people beside us. Make what we learn useful to someone else.

The person behind the inspiration

My mentor and a second father to me.

MAPEI’s history records that Nick partnered with Dr. Giorgio Squinzi in 1983 to establish MAPEI Corporation in the United States. He later served as Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 2025.
